How did we start?
A Community Partner Since 1979
The
Human Development Council is unique to the
province of New Brunswick. It grew from
a coordinated effort by the former Social
Services Council, United Way of Greater
Saint John, City of Saint John, Province
of New Brunswick, and the federal government
who funded a year long study in 1976, called
the Human Development Project. Its purpose
was to produce a framework for the planning
and delivery of human services. Community
participation was essential as was a spirit
of partnership and collective responsibility.
